Daniel's interest in the healing power of nature began as a young child when he would spend his summers identifying and learning about medicinal plants growing wild in the woods behind his grandmother’s cottage in New Hampshire. This knowledge, that nature possesses the ability to promote healing and wellness, inspired him to follow a career in naturopathic medicine.

He received his premedical training at the University of Guelph, earning a Bachelor of Science degree, with Honours, in nutritional and nutraceutical sciences in 2002. He then went on to graduate from the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine (CCNM) in 2006. Concurrent with his studies at CCNM, Dan also completed three years of advanced training in classical homeopathy with Joseph Kellerstein, which included an internship in his private practice. During this time he developed a strong interest in the treatment of cancer and went on to complete a two year hospital-based residency at the Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA) in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Upon completion of his residency program, he joined CTCA as a full-time staff naturopathic physician where he continued to practice and supervise residents for an additional two years.

Daniel was hired as a full-time faculty and returned to CCNM in December, 2010. As a fellow of the American Board of Naturopathic Oncology (FABNO), he is one of only a handful of naturopathic doctors in Canada who are board certified in naturopathic oncology. He is currently an assistant professor teaching naturopathic oncology and clinical nutrition, as well as supervising 4th year interns in the Adjunctive Cancer Care Shift at the Robert Schad Naturopathic Clinic.

In his private practice, Daniel's mission is to accompany patients on their journey with cancer while facilitating their individual healing process by working in conjunction with the healing powers of nature before, during, and after conventional treatment.

Daniel is a strong proponent of naturopathic oncology as an area of focus within naturopathic medicine and presently sits on the Board of Directors of the Oncology Association of Naturopathic Physicians. He is also an advocate for the regulation of naturopathic medicine and while in Oklahoma held terms as the president and the vice-president of the Oklahoma Association of Naturopathic Physicians.
