Practitioner Bio: Christianne James, RMT
|
Christianne is a licensed massage therapist, registered with the Canadian Massage Therapists of Ontario. Christianne loves anything to do with people, health, and the body. She has always been interested in how the body heals innately, how it functions in the presence of various stressors, and how individuals subjectively view their own health. She pursued this interest academically at Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario, and obtained two degrees: the first a Bachelor of Science in Life Sciences, and the second an Honours Bachelor of Arts with distinction in Health Studies. Her academic studies and career path has been diverse and lends to a broad and open-minded understanding of subjective, alternative, integrative, and evidence-based medical/health research and practices. In the past, she has worked alongside chiropractors, physiotherapists, osteopaths, naturopaths, medical doctors, and massage therapists at multidisciplinary, private, and hospital settings as an active care specialist, and massage therapist in various rehabilitative and research capacities. As an avid salsa dancer and sports enthusiast, Christianne is no stranger to injury and ailments. She experienced a severe back injury a few years ago that left her unable to walk without excruciating pain and spasms for months. It was the hands-on touch and bodywork of her massage therapist that soothed her nervous system, decreased the muscle spasms, and aligned her vertebrate that eventually stopped the pain. Through her practice and personal life she has seen first hand how physical, emotional, mental, spiritual, social, and financial stressors can cause ailments throughout the body that manifest themselves differently in each person. This is why Christianne practices patient-centred care that focuses on an individual’s health needs and goals. Christianne believes that empowering her patients through health education is essential to proactive health care and wellness. She believes massage therapy plays a key role in dealing with many of life’s stressors, and is essential for long-term health and wellness. Christianne is committed to continuously growing and learning in her field. She is currently studying Osteopathy at the Osteopathic College of Ontario. Christianne is excited to be working at the CCNM Integrated Healthcare Centre. She looks forward to becoming your massage therapist and working together to achieve your optimal health. Fee Schedule
